Almost every time I need a dummy
round to set-up your chamber. The exceptions are,
you give me the neck diameter you want in the chambering and, you and or I know zero
free bore is what is needed in the throat for the chambering.
Prep the brass as you will for the rifle when its completed. Seat the bullet of
choice
and praying that will shoot in the gun to the seating depth that works for you or in the
magazine. Use virgin brass. Your fire formed brass in the old chamber most likely is
bigger in diameter and in most cases
won't resize small enough for a slip fit. If you chose
not to heed this requirement and send a fired case, I
will do my best. But setting the
throat is not accomplished with beating a case in and prying it out to see and
measure
where I'm at.
This is
the same for wild cats and Ackley style cartridges. The reason for this is the
ojive of the bullet and the base of the case are the only two surfaces that are used in the
measurement to cut the throat. Nothing else needs to touch in the chamber.
If you insist on sending a fired cases and it turns out that the throat is cut
to deep you
can have it remachined. But you will encore all the costs to correct and a virgin piece of
brass must be sent to do the rework.
Please send written instructions, I'm not a mind reader and do not have total
recall.
The page under WORK ORDER will give a good outline of what information I will need to
work on your rifle.
I have no problem using your chamber reamer. But if you have a GO and NO GO
gauge, send it. Your gauge's may not be exactly like my gauges. Yes manufacture to
manufacture
has different lengths. I can guarantee the fit on the gauges used not on
another set of gauges.
Send the required deposit to get
started on your project which means, I don't order
parts till I have a deposit. If I'm ordering a barrel it's $275.00. For a stock $300.00. For a
complete build $1500.00
